Job summary

The primary expectation of this position is to effectively manage and operate cement import terminal distribution center serving customers by truck and rail.
 

Responsibilities:

Safety

  • Lead and promote safety program, compliance with safety standards and participate in site safety meetings.
  • Monitor operations to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations for safety and health while maintaining environmental stewardship.

 

Terminal Operations Management

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the cement import terminal, including vessel, railcar, or truck unloading, storage, and outbound transportation.
  • Coordinate with shipping agents, trucking companies, and logistics providers to ensure timely and efficient handling of cement shipments.
  • Monitor inventory levels, track incoming and outgoing shipments, and maintain accurate records of stock levels and transaction details.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all terminal personnel.

 

Equipment Maintenance and Repair:

  • Conduct regular inspections of terminal equipment, such as conveyors, loaders, and forklifts, to ensure proper functioning and identify any maintenance or repair needs.
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams to schedule and perform routine maintenance tasks, troubleshoot equipment issues, and minimize downtime.

 

Quality Control and Documentation:

  • Collaborate with quality control personnel to verify compliance with product specifications and resolve any quality-related issues.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate documentation related to cement shipments, including bills of lading, certificates of analysis, and other required paperwork.

 

Compliance and Reporting:

  • Stay up-to-date with relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements, and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Prepare and submit reports on terminal operations, inventory levels, and other relevant metrics as required by management or regulatory authorities.
  • Participate in audits and inspections, addressing any findings and implementing corrective actions as necessary.

 

Team Leadership and Communication:

  • Supervise and provide guidance to terminal personnel, ensuring effective teamwork, training, and performance management.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting open communication and addressing any employee concerns or issues.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, such as suppliers, customers, and regulatory agencies, to address inquiries, resolve problems, and maintain strong business relationships.
 

Requirements:

• Supervisory or management experience required.

• Project and subcontractor management experience required.

• Previous experience in terminal operations, logistics, or related fields, preferably within the cement or bulk materials industry preferred.
