Responsibilities:

• Participate in the design and assessment of information and operational support systems.
• Evaluate, build, integrate, test, and prepare servers for operational use and patches for rapid remediation of software related issues.
• Integrate and manage automation tools for commonly performed tasks.
• Design and deploy various servers (Windows and OpenSource) in virtualized hypervisor environments as well as standalone hardware servers.
• Configure network monitoring systems to automate alarm notification.
• Manage system hardware and projects related to implementation of new or upgrades of existing hardware.
• Perform troubleshooting and analysis of servers and associated systems.
• Ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.
• Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies.
• Work with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.
 

Requirements:

• Experience as a Systems Engineer in a service provider environment or large enterprise environment. 
• Experience implementing, deploying, and maintaining standalone servers and virtualized servers with various hypervisors.
• Understands database architecture and familiarity with SQL.
• Create/Manage servers (Windows and Opensource) in VMWare virtualization environment utilizing VMWare VCenter.
• DevOps and automation experience including automation frameworks, deploy and build frameworks including Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, or similar tools.
• Working knowledge and experience with various networking standards and protocols such as OSPF, ISIS, iBGP, Ethernet, VLAN tagging, spanning tree protocols, DNS, DHCP, NAT, CGN, HTTP, SIP, MGCP, RTP, QoS and others.
• The ability to work independently under minimal supervision – must be driven and be able to define work tasks
based upon project goal and corporate objectives.
• Working knowledge and understanding of FTTH technologies.
• Experience with network monitoring and alarm notification systems such as SolarWinds.
